The West Bengal College Librarians’ Association (WBCLA) was established in the year 1962 by some college librarians and university professionals with outstanding zeal, high quality of services rendered by them to highlight the problems affecting the profession in the realm of higher education. Since then the Association has been fighting for providing best quality of services to the users of college libraries and for establishing a sound position in higher education..
“College Libraries”, a peer-reviewed quarterly journal is published since 1983. Previously it was known as “College Librarians”. This Journal is being continuously publishing more than 40 years as an organ of West Bengal College Librarians’ Association (WBCLA) and new volume bring sout with March issue every year. The articles which have been published in this Journal focused on academic problems and issues germane to college and university libraries as well as all burning issues related to Library and Information Science. “College Libraries” also provides a forum for authors to present research findings and where applicable, their practical applications and significance; analyze policies, practices, issues and trends; speculate about the future of academic Librarianship. We also provide authors benefits, such as, free PDFs, liberal copyright policy, special discount on WBCLA publications and much more. “College Libraries” is indexed in Indian Library Science Abstract (ILSA). Activities
- Promotes the interests of the members of the Association and safeguard their rights and privileges.
- Studies all the problems relating to the College Library Personnel and enhance their efficiencies for rendering better services by conducting discussions, seminars, training, workshop, etc.
- Publishes journals, books, news letter and to undertake other educational publications.
- Organizes Annual Conference and AGM.
- Status and service conditions of the librarians / Assistant librarian of govt and govt aided colleges , west bengal.
- All College Librarian of West Bengal are requested to meet your peers at 1st & 3rd Tuesday for professional advice & help.
